Mad March

Sometimes everything seems to come all at the same time. March was one of those months. My weekend workshop was fully booked, using charcoal as a drawing medium enabled us to be bold. Large sheets of paper were filled with tone and lines to describe the shells we were drawing. Even the most insecure of starters established a

confident use of mark making.

My very first staff wellbeing booking involved meeting familiar friendly faces of staff who work for Blaenau-gwent safeguarding team. What a brilliant way to switch off from the all consuming mental drain of their work. Clay, its tactile quality, its soothing, calming familiarness of play dough days. It was the first time that many had met face to face, their days are now spent at home behind a computer screen. I felt privileged to facilitate the sense of wellbeing that was apparent by the end of the session.

A few days later I spent an hour after work delivering a staff wellbeing session back at Osbaston School. The forward thinking head teacher had booked me to deliver a wellbeing session for her staff. Accompanied by a cream egg and daffodils staff experimented with acrylic ink, salt and masking fluid. Switching off, time passed quickly, connecting, learning, noticing, being active and giving.
