I cannot believe that it is the end of the school term already, where did those few months go?. For me they were spent on several wonderful environmental projects raising awareness of the need to help our pollinators, especially the butterflies and bees.
My first project for Resilient Greater Gwent involved creating a resource for pre school establishments. The resource outlined several creative tasks to engage the children and encourage the staff to learn about the wonderful world of butterflies. Scan the barcode to access the activities .
I also had the pleasure of completing workshops at Primary schools across Gwent. The organisation Nature isn't Neat commissioned me to visit 1-2 schools in each of the 5 areas of gwent, talking to them about helping our pollinators by planting wildflower areas in our gardens and schools. Of course they created art. I was amazed at the mono prints that were produced, even the rising 3s in Mount Pleasant Nursery class produced some amazing responses, their faces when they lifted the paper from the mono print surface were brilliant !
Seed packs were decorated using this technique so that each child could take some wildflower seeds home, plant them and watch them grow. I also had an opportunity to paint some plant pots with them and plant a wildflower plug. Great messy work for all the ages that I worked with.
