The recent rain has meant that the river levels have risen again. On today's walk I noticed a large amount of trees that had been toppled by the force of the water but were holding on with their roots to the earth below,
It reminded me of the drawings of water made by Leonardo Da Vinci, in particular his drawings entitled deluge.
Leonardo believed that to understand something fully you had to look beneath the surface, His own interest in water was deeper than the movement across the surface he wanted to understand the movement of water within water.
Today was not a day for me to physically enter the water to investigate what was under the surface but rather to contemplate it's strength and on this occasion to wonder at the lines and shapes created by the movement across it's surface.
