I currently work

as an art teacher

in a secondary school in the

South Wales Valleys.

I have graduated in an MA

in Arts Health and Wellbeing

at the University of South

My love of nature

and my first hand experience of it

as a healing process inspires my ownpractice.

The immersive and

mindful experience of being in

a natural environment

influences

my photography.

The ambiguous and delicate

comparison between

a photograph and a painting emerges

as I manipulate the images.

Fascinating Facts Activity Sheet

February 2022 - Butterfly Fascinating Facts Pre School Activity Sheet .

I designed and produced an interactive fact sheet for pre                                  school settings. The sheet was funded by MCC, Monlife,                                    Welsh Government and Resilient, Greater Gwent (RGG)

The RGG Sustainable Communities work stream has already produced videos and pollinator packs about pollinating insects to inform a range of audiences, including schools, volunteer groups and local decision-makers. These 3 elements of the 2022 Pollinator Project will complement this work, providing a practical means of community engagement with groups which have not previously been targeted to participate in this vitally important work.  It will also provide training opportunities for teacher and play leaders.

Practical Art Workshops in Primary Schools Promoting Biodiversity

April 2022  - Working as part of The Nature isn’t Neat project I delivered practical                       workshops within 5 schools in the Gwent Green Grid area. The                                   purpose of which was to engage with the pupils about pollinator                                 decline and why we all need to consider what we can do differently to                         help them recover.

The Nature Isn’t Neat project aimed to  establish a joined-up approach to the management of green spaces, also known as Green Infrastructure (GI), to create wildflower-rich pollinator habitats across 5 local authority areas (Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen)

The project was delivered as part of the Gwent Green Grid Partnership, to  engage with local communities across South-East Wales, raising awareness of pollinator decline and encouraging community ownership and empowerment to deliver actions that will help them recover.

July 2022  - I Designed and produced a digital resource/learning pack to                      support teachers in their delivery of biodiversity based                              learning sessions within the theme of ‘Exploring the Natural                      Environment through the Expressive Arts. Making clear                            links  with The New Curriculum for Wales.

The digital resource/learning pack was followed up by the provision of pilot/training days for teaching staff, with a focus on delivering education on the theme of biodiversity and wellbeing, with an element of outdoor learning through the 5 disciplines of the Expressive Arts.

The resource/training was  “teacher friendly” and equipped teaching staff with the skills to deliver a programme of meaningful lessons with clear links to the new Curriculum for Wales.
